Seeking after God through Prayer

Praying and begging God to work in our lives

Psalm 131

God, my heart has been humbled. My heart is not proud, and I am not thinking I am better than anyone. I have not been meddling in other men’s affairs or making myself the judge of others. I have been quiet and waited. I have not struck back at all those that have struck me. I hope in you. You are all that I have. God, I look to you and trust in you. I believe you. God, please come and help me.

Psalm 138

God, I am trusting you to revive me. I ask you to stop the wrath of my enemies. I ask you to move and save me. God, perfect me. Make me like you want me to be. I thank you for all the mercy that you have.

I will praise you with my whole heart in front of everyone. I will sing praises to you. I will continue to worship you. I will praise your name because of your extraordinary loving kindness. I will praise you because of the word that is so important to you that you magnify it.

I cry out to you in prayer, and you answer me. You strengthen me and help me go on. Everyone will eventually praise you when they hear your word. They will, too, sing of you and your ways because you are great.

Even though you are so great and mighty and lifted, you treat us that are lowly right. Those that are proud know that you care for us. I walk in trouble, but you will give me life again. You will stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies. You will save me with your power.

You will mature me and all about me. Your mercy, dear Lord, endures forever. Please don’t abandon me and the work that you have done in my life. I need you and look to you.

If they were to but hear the words of His mouth, they would praise Him. The problem is that they do not hear. We do not tell. We do not send His gospel to the world. Was this simply David’s faith, or was it a veiled promise? I believe and have seen that when “they” hear, “they” respond. God opens doors. His Word is power and changes lives. We must take on the burden of working on our Father’s business of getting the gospel message to the world.

Psalm 139

God, I love you. You are working in my life. I know I can never escape your presence, and I do not want to. I love you. I want to serve you. I ask you to show yourself for your honor and glory in my life.

God, you have searched me and known me. You know me better than anyone. You know, everywhere I go and all that I do. You know what I am thinking. You are with me everywhere I go. You know me. You know what I am going to say before I say it. You are in front and behind me. You have your hand on me.

God, to think that you think so much of me is super wonderful. I can not believe that you would think of me. God, you are always here for me. I can’t escape your presence. No matter how high or low I go, you are always there with me.

You lead me no matter where I am. You take care of me no matter where I am. I can’t hide from you. You see and know everything.

You made me. I will praise you because I know you did great things even when you made me. You are wonderful, and what you do is wonderful, though hard to believe when I think of myself.

I will praise you because I know you do right all the time. You made me just like you wanted me. I am not an accident. You formed me. You built me according to your plan and your pleasure.

I know you will take care of the wicked. I do not want to be around wicked people. They say wicked stuff about me. They disobey your word. They do damage to your ministry. I hate those that hate you.

It tears me up people rise up against you. I hate them with perfect hatred. I count them as my enemies.

God, I know I am not all that I should be or need to be, so I ask that you continue searching me and convicting me of my sin. Show me what is wicked and wrong, and lead me as I get victory over it. Thank you so much for all you are doing.

God is bigger than we often think. He knows where I am. He knows what I am doing. Even bigger than that, He knows what I am thinking. He knows where my heart is.

Can you imagine that? Someone who knows what is going on in my heart and mind. I haven’t even said it yet, but He understands it. He is God. So it isn’t just my actions that He knows but my thoughts. He knows my motives. He knows it all. He is God.

I want to get my thinking under control. I want my thoughts to please Him. I want to magnify Him even in my thinking!

Thank you for being so good to me and always thinking such beautiful thoughts about me and for me. I do not deserve your grace and mercy, and thank you very much for all you do and have done. Help me share these great truths with others.

Psalm 143

I can not defend my actions, attitudes, or sins. I have failed you, and no one can stand in your presence. I come to you asking for mercy. I ask you to teach me to serve you. I ask you to show me the truth. Please stretch out your hands and meet my needs. You know that I am still hurting.

Thank you for how I am getting over the past, and I want to be able to put it behind me. I pray for those that so desperately hate me. I need you to teach me how to be all that you want me to be.

God, please hear my prayer. I come to you with needs and petitions. I know you are faithful t hear me and answer me. You always do right and answer rightly. God, I pray that you will not judge me because I miserably failed you. No one can honestly think that they haven’t failed you.

My enemy continues to seek my soul. He has knocked me to the ground, and you know that my life has been turned upside down. He has caused me to live in obscurity. I live like a walking dead man.

That is why my spirit is overwhelmed. I feel abandoned and all alone.

I think back to the old days. I meditate on all you have done in my life and through me. I consider your work. I am reaching out to you right now. I am so hungry and thirsty for you and your blessing again. I am tired of the desert.

Please hear and work because I am about to faint and give up. Please do not hide your face from me. I feel like one who is on the way to the grave.

Please make me hear your loving-kindness in the morning. I trust you. Help me to know what to do. What is my next stage of ministry? I lift my heart and life up to you.

Deliver me from my enemies. I run to you and ask you to hide me from all they want to do to me.

Teach me what and how to do whatever you want me to do. You are my God. Your Spirit is good. God, lead and direct me as I live as one of your children.

Give me life again. Help me not to faint for your name’s sake and for your cause. Because of who you are, your name, and your testimony, please get me out of this trouble.

God, I beg you to show me mercy and destroy my enemies. Destroy those that constantly desire to hurt me. I am your servant. You called me. God, let them know they are kicking against you.

I know my enemies are not the people fighting me but the devil and demons. Destroy them. Take away their power. Free people to think about you and do your ministry, and I will praise you.

David asks God not to judge him. He knows God would never see him as justified or right. There is nothing in David that would make God approve of Him. David has sinned, and he knows it. No one could ever make themselves right with God.

That is why God has done such beautiful things in our lives. He has made us a new creature. He has made us partakers of the divine nature. He has taken our sins on Himself and made us the righteousness of God in Him.

He sees us perfectly. We stand before Him as new creatures. We would never have been able to stand if He had not done so much in our lives. We are no longer men but sons of God!

God, please show me where to walk. Guide me and help me as pastor to work in how pleases you. Help me make a difference for your honor and glory. I desperately need you and look for you to use me and work in and through me.

Psalm 144

Thank you for teaching me how to do ministry, though there is so much I could have done better and made many mistakes. You are all I have. You are my protector. You are my God. I know I am nothing, and I realize that more daily. I will soon be gone, so I want to use the time you give me to accomplish your will with my life. It is you that will make it possible for me to do anything of value.

Glory to the God of heaven who is my strength. He teaches me to fight and battle for His kingdom and purposes. God, you are my goodness, my protection, the one who rescues me. You are my shield, and you are the one that I trust. You give me victory in battle.

God, why would you even think of me? Why would you give me the time of day? I question why you would ever care for me. I am like a shadow, like something of no value. You are all-powerful, so whatever you touch experiences your power.

But God, since you do care, I ask you to come in great power and eliminate my enemies. Destroy them, please. Get me out of trouble and get rid of them so they can do no more harm or damage. God, these people are set on destroying. Their mouths speak empty worthless words. They lie on every hand.

I will sing to you and praise you because you rescue your people. They are trying to hurt me, but you will rescue me even from this. God rescue me, get rid of them. If they choose to lie and hurt, destroy them.

I pray their children might see what happens when they sin like this. God bless my family. Bless my children. God, I am asking you to pour out your blessings on whatever you have for me in the future. I feel the loss of my friends and all the ministry, but I trust you will do something that brings great honor to your name.

I want complaining to be replaced with praising. I want to see your people happy with what you are doing. You are my God and king. Please work in my life.

We never ought to forget that our lives are short. We are here but for a moment. Life will be over before we know it. The Lord says our lives are like vanity. Something empty. Something of no real value. He says our lives are like a shadow. It is here, and it is soon gone.

So if I understand the truth, I know that my earthly life will be short, but my life will last forever somewhere. This life is very temporary. However, we will be somewhere forever. We need to consider how much we need God. We need to trust and believe Him because we want to live forever with Him.

Life has no real purpose without the Lord. We want to seek Him. We want to find real meaning, purpose, and even the life we wish we had!

Psalm 145

Thank you for being tender with your children, saving me, and making me yours. I know you are good to all. I am asking for your goodness in my life. I need you. I know you are a gracious God and full of compassion. I know you have been angry with me, and I repent of all I have done that failed you so miserably.

God, I will praise you greatly as my God and king. I will worship and praise you all of my life and forever. Every day I will bless you, I will praise your name forever and ever.

You are worthy of all praise. You are so great I can’t possibly understand you. We will praise you for all you and done and tell others of your work and greatness.

I will speak of your majesty and your miraculous works. We will talk about how awesome you are. You are the greatest. There is no other like you.

We will mark much of what you have done and what we have seen of you. We will sing. You are a good God, you are full of grace. You are full of compassion. You are not quick to get angry. You are a God of great mercy.

You are good to everyone. Your tender mercy is evident over all that you do. Everything you do praises you. Your people, your saints, we praise you. We talk of your power and all that you can do.

We want the world to know that you are a great God. We want them to know of your salvation. We want them to know of your kingdom. Your kingdom is forever. You rule over it all.

You pick up those that fall. You raise those that have been humbled and have bowed their head. We all look to you and wait to see what you will do. When the time is right, you will meet my needs. You open your hand and meet the needs and desires of every living thing.

You are right and holy in all that you do. You are close by when we call on you for real from a heart that desires to know your will.

You will hear and answer my prayer because I fear, honor, love, and respect you. You will hear my cry, and you will save me. You take care of all that love you. You destroy the wicked.

My mouth will be found praising you. I call on all to bless and praise your holy name forever.

If we aren’t careful, we can hear things about God that will paint Him quite differently than He paints Himself. Here, He makes it clear that He is full of grace and compassion. He is slow to get mad at anyone. He has great mercy. He is good to all. That said all. His mercy is over everything that He does.

Be careful as you read the Scriptures that you see what it says. Keep the balance of what is said about God. Look at Jesus, God in human flesh, and see this verse personified. He is good. He is wonderful. There is no comparing Him to anything concept that you can imagine. Love Him.

Our God is good to all. He sends His rain on the just and on the unjust. He is good. His tender mercies are over all the creation because the creation is all His work. God is good. God is love. That is the summation of what the Bible teaches.

This should affect your heart and thoughts of Him. He is good. Now as you read the Bible, as you hear preaching, etc, consider everything in the light of this verse.

Gratitude, a sentiment often tucked away in the recesses of our hearts, possesses the transformative power to enrich not only our lives but also the lives of those around us.

In January of 1987 Betty, the kids, and I arrived in Querétaro, Mexico to study Spanish. I literally didn’t know ten words. I am forever indebted to Georgia, Hermana Luisa, Webb for the language institute she ran for many years. She was strict. She pushed hard. Betty cried on more than one occasion. Without the challenge I know that I never would have learned the language. The language school gave me structure, discipline, help learning what to do next. Read the rest of the letter then go watch this video the BBF did of Miss Webb. When you get this letter, Lord willing, Betty and I will be in Mexico and we will be visiting this wonderful godly lady. I thought of this lady often over the years. I remembered how hard she had been on me. I remembered being tortured it seemed but I survived Hermana Luisa and she made me a thriving missionary. Thank you Hermana Luisa for helping a red neck Tennessee hillbilly learn enough Spanish to do some ministry. God bless you. So know that language school might be very beneficial for you. Efficient Resource Utilization: Organized lesson plans and materials ensure learners make the most of their study time, covering essential language elements in a coherent manner. Clear Learning Objectives: Well-organized courses outline clear learning objectives, helping learners understand what to expect and what is expected of them. Resource Accessibility: Organized language schools provide learners with easy access to a variety of resources, including textbooks, multimedia materials, and language software.
