The Two Realities, Two Adams

We are like our father/Father.

Over the next little while, I want to discuss “Our Identity in Christ!” To do that, we need to understand who we are in our natural state. We are all born into Adam’s race, the human race. We are born with a natural body. Those that are born again are born into the last Adam, Christ. There are great truths in the Scripture about all of this. It will take us days to wade through this in short posts, so I invite you to come along for the journey.

Take the time to examine the Scriptures with me. Read I Corinthians 15:42-49. Here the Scriptures are speaking of the resurrection of believers, those that are “in Christ!”

The first thing to consider with me is that there are two Adams. They are the heads of two races of people.

  • Two Adams I Corinthians 15:45
  • First Adam was made a living soul
  • Second Adam was made a quickening. (Life giving) spirit.
  • There are two bodies I Corinthians 15:43, 46
  • A natural body-comes first
  • A spiritual body—comes later
  • There are two men
  • The first man is of the earth, earthy
  • The second man is the Lord from heaven
  • Each man follows the pattern
  • The earthy are earthy
  • The heavenly are heavenly
  • There are two images
  • We start with the image of the earthy
  • We will also bear the image of the heavenly
  • The first Adam is Adam I Corinthians 15:22
  • The second Adam is Christ
  • `All in Adam die
  • All in Christ live

In effect we were born into Adam and we are born again into Christ. In Adam we get his nature of sin and death. In Christ we get His nature of life and holiness.

We are like our father/Father.

Think on these things. Post questions or comments right here. I would love to hear from you.
